Carefully remove all of the screws from the iPhone's housing with a precise screwdriver and store them somewhere safe.

Remove all of the screws from the inside and carefully disassemble all of the internal components until you reach the iPhone's Logic Board. Keep in mind the disassembly order. This will come in handy while reassembling the iPhone.


When you look at the iPhone's Logic Board, you'll notice an IC that looks like the one shown above. Remember that the Touchscreen Controller IC on different iPhone models will have different part numbers. For example, the iPhone 4S Touchscreen Controller IC's part number is TI 343S0538.


One cause of the touchscreen issue could be dry solder. Apply good quality no-clean flux to all sides of this particular IC with an ESD-Safe Brush.

Give hot air all around the IC with the Hot Air Blower. Make sure you blow hot air from a safe distance. If you blow heated air too close to the solder, it will melt. Our goal is to remove all of the oxides from the solder junctions rather than melting the solder.

Clean the logic board with an ESD-Safe Brush and any good PCB cleaning solvent, such as IPA solution.

Put the iPhone back together and test the touchscreen. It should now work.

If the problem persists, the Touchscreen Controller IC may need to be replaced (SMD).
